Help Us Build a School

Improve access to and quality of education for children in remote areas by building schools

A good education requires the basic infrastructure of a good school. We partner with others to construct elementary schools in rural areas that lack a school, and we rehab schools that are run down, putting our students at risk or physical harm.

Provide clean water for rural and ethnic communities.

Past projects

Truong Mau Giao Tra Cang

Tam Ky Project has collaborated with Hope For Tomorrow to build a school in the highland of Nam Tra My (Tra Cang). Hope donated $11,557 and the school got the remaining funding from another source. You can see the “before” school in the first few pictures below. It was very challenging for these young kids as it is extremely hot in the summer and water get inside the classroom during raining season. There are 47 kids at this school with ages about 5 yrs old. There are about 20 kids who have to hike with their parents each day on challenging mountain roads for an hour to get to the school.

This new school will give them a proper place to rest at lunch time and they now can focus in learning instead of dealing with the heat or getting wet or cold from the rain.
#tamkyproject volunteers visited this new school yesterday and gave the kids treats to welcoming them back to school and to the brand new school.

The parents, teachers & kids were very excited to see the new school and wanted to pass on their sincere thank you to Hope for Tomorrow for making their dream come true.

Truong Mau Giao Tra Thanh, Tay Tra

Tam Ky Project collaborated with Hope for Tomorrow to build a school in the highland of Tay Tra, Quang Ngai (Truong Tra Thanh). You can see the “before” school in the first few pictures below. The old school was more like a shed and these young kids were suffering either from the brutal heat in the hot months or the extreme cold & wet during raining season. There are 67 kids at this school with ages from 3-5 yrs old. They have to hike to school each day for 30-50 minutes one way depending on where some of these kids live.

This new school will give them a proper place to rest at lunch time and now they can focus in learning instead of dealing with the heat or cold.

Hope for Tomorrow donated $21,209 to build this school.

Truong Mau Giao Tra Khe

Tam Ky Project built this small school for the kindergarteners who live below the poverty line in Tra Khe, Quang Ngai. They are part of a tribe and speak a dialect in the Mon–Khmer family. These kids (3-5 years old) walk on rough roads with their parents to school for 45 minutes each way.

The total project cost $10,595 to have one classroom, 1 bathroom, a room for the teacher to stay overnight (because of the far distance to home), a security wall around the school, because it is near a cliff, cemented front yard so the kids can have a playground area.

School of Cao Dinh Chuong

Tam Ky Project collaborated with TongueOut Charity to build a school for 45 kindergarteners who live below the poverty level in Tra Xinh, Quang Ngai. They are a tribe and speak a dialect in the Mon–Khmer family. These kids (3-5 years old) walk on rough roads with their parents to school for 45 minutes each way.

The total project costs $20,503 to have two classrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a security wall around the school because it is on a cliff. We also added a gate and a porch roof.

Điểm Trường Nóc Ông Phụng, Trà Dơn, Nam Trà My

The villagers worked so hard for over 3 months helping to move materials to bring them to the school site. As you can see in the pictures below, they carried bricks on their backs, just a few at a time because there is no other transportation. They hiked up these mountain roads in the wind and rain and it normally takes them 3 hrs one way if the weather is good. With rain, it will take much longer due to the slippery road. But coming together, they made it happened! The school is done and the kids (60 kids) now have a warm & cozy school. There are two classroom for kids from 1st -5th grade, one classroom for Kindergarten, 1 bedroom divided by 3 areas for teachers, and one kitchen.

Tam Ky Project contributed $3,000 to this project.

Điểm Trường Nóc Ông Deo, Tra Don

There are 32 kids from 1-3rd grade and 17 from kindergarten will be attending this new school.

Tam Ky Project has contributed $3,000 to this school construction.

Điểm Hưng, Minh Hoá, Quảng Bình

Tam Ky Project raised $3,000 to help build this small Elementary school for the kids in a rural area in the highlands of Quang Binh (central of VN). The population here is mostly Bru people. They speak Bru, a Mon-Khmer language. They live below the poverty line and can’t afford to build a school. The teachers had been holding classes at the homes of some of the kids’ family. In the summer this year, a few local charities came together and helped to build this school. The kids are so excited to have a real school to go to instead of their shacks.

Điểm Trường Tak Ran

Tam Ky Project & Tongueout had collaborated and contributed $5,000 to build this elementary school in Tak Ran, Nam Tra My.

There are about 100 kids going to this school. They used to have sit on chairs & tables that were submerged in water during the winter. The road to here is also very rough and muddy. Volunteers traveled on scooters for 3-4 hrs to deliver gifts to these kids here. You can see before & after pictures in the below album.
