Thursday (4/9/20), Tam Ky Project volunteers distributed emergency food to 50 seniors who live around Westminster & Garden Grove areas. Some said they have been craving some fresh veggies & fruits but don’t know how to get them since they can’t go shopping anymore. They don’t have any family to help them during this tough time of the pandemic.
Each of them had received a bag of rice, package of bottled water, cooking oil, several types of canned food, several types of crackers, breads, dried noodles, cup o noodle, toilet paper, milk, several types of fresh veggies and various fruits & fabric masks. All of these food could last them for a month!
They were so happy and thankful to receive these gifts and so appreciative of the volunteers for delivering these wonderful groceries to them despite the heavy rain on Thursday afternoon last week.
A friend of one of the seniors donated $200 because she was so touched that we helped her friend out. Thank you Amy for delivering to this sweet lady.
Can’t do this without our amazing volunteers Theresa Nguyen & Amy Nitao for working so hard lifting heavy stuff including water, rice, potatoes, yam, milks & a million other items to their cars & transported these to the office so we could sort & package for each senior. All were handled while it was raining cats & dogs! They are our frontline workers. Without them, these seniors won’t be able to get groceries. They wear masks and stay 6ft away.
Thank you chị Ngọc Hung Nguyen for her amazing effort to shop for all the dried food which almost filled up a car trunk.
Thank you Vi Tuong Dinh for donating $300 worth of several types of crackers & Mama instant noodles.
Last but not least, thank you so much to Sapvn Charity for their joint effort on funding this meaningful mission. Thank you to their super volunteer Thao Le & her hubby, Dr. Kiet for going to several stores to get enough Toilet paper for this project and for coordinating with us to get this project done.
And thank you again to all of the generous donors who have donated to our Covid-19 fundraising effort so we can do many meaningful projects like this. Final summary & breakdown of each project will be coming soon.
