Excelerate Capital donates 10,000 to provide free cataract surgeries to impoverished patients in rural Vietnam

main
Over the past five years, Tam Ky Project has provided free cataract surgeries to patients who are unable to pay, so they may once again experience the gift of sight.
This year, we proudly partnered with Excelerate Capital to provide free cataract surgeries to 200 seniors who were legally blind due to cataracts. The patients live below the poverty line in the rural highland areas of Vietnam and would otherwise not have been able to afford the surgery.
The Excelerate Capital program paid for all surgery fees, prescriptions for post-surgery, patient transportation fees, food, drinks, and all other procedure related costs for the three day stay at the hospital.
With just $50 per person, we were able to literally change lives. The program helped each of these seniors to once again see their families and the world around them. The surgery recipients were so excited and thankful to have their vision restored. They can now see their children and grandchildren clearly for the first time in many years. They were in tears and couldn’t find words to express their immense gratitude.
There were 100 patients living in the rural areas of Tay Nguyen (Gia Lai, Kon Tum) and the surgeries were performed at “Benh Vien Mat Tay Nguyen” & “ Benh Vien Dai Hoc Tay Nguyen” hospitals.
The remaining 100 patients were from the rural areas of Quang Nam and the surgeries were performed at “Benh Vien Mat Tinh Quang Nam” hospital.
Thank you so much to Mike Thompson, Chairman of Excelerate Capital, and to his wife, Lori Nguyen, along with their company, Excelerate Capital, for sponsoring this very meaningful and life-changing humanitarian cause.
